BSNL Launches New Rs 39 Plan to Take on Reliance Jio Offer; Get Unlimited Voice Calls Under STV 39 For 10 Days

BSNL has launched a new plan where it is offering unlimited voice offer at Rs 39. The plan is for its prepaid mobile customers for home and national roaming for the period of 10 days. You are also offered 100 free SMS and free personalised ring back tunes (PRBT) on pan India basis for the period of 10 days, but no data is offered under the plan.

Voice calls are, however, not free in Delhi and Mumbai. This is because Mumbai and Delhi have a separate Special Tariff Value or STV 45 scheme, which offers free voice calls. Moreover, STV 45 provides unlimited plans of Rs 186, Rs 484 and Rs 666.

R.K.Mittal, Director (CM) BSNL Board, informed on the website this (39) special Tariff Voucher (STV) scheme is only for voice with the validity of 10 days catering to the specific requirement of subscribers.

The announcement has come at a time when Reliance Jio is about to launch its Jio Fiber fixed-line broadband services. BSNL has been gearing up to revive its fibre broadband (FTTH) offerings in order to battle the new challenges in the telecom market.

In addition to STV 39, BSNL also offers voice calling plans at Rs 99 and Rs 319. Under STV 99 plan you get unlimited voice calls for the period of 26 days. STV 319 offers you unlimited voice calls for 90 days.

Reliance Jio has a plan at Rs 49 for one month which offers free voice calls with 1GB of 4G data. Compared to Reliance Jio offer, which is only for its Jio Phone users, BSNL s STV 39 is for its prepaid subscribers.

Airtel's offers Rs 93 prepaid plan which offers 1GB data for a period of 28 days. You are provided unlimited local, STD, roaming and voice calls along with 100 free SMS per day.

The LumiWatch Runs Android and Turns Your Arm Into A Touchscreen

Six researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have published a paper detailing a wearable device called LumiWatch that not only projects information onto the arm, but also lets the user interact with the projections. The first prototype of the LumiWatch is said to come with a 15 lumen scanned-laser projector that uses red, blue and green lasers. The projection is said to be bright enough for outdoor usage. According to the researchers, the device would cost around $600 if it was brought to the market at this stage, but it's still only a prototype, so don’t expect to wear one on your wrist any time soon.
